Withdrawal planning
Accumulation calculators answer how much you may have. Withdrawal calculators answer how long it may last when spending begins.
Worked example
A $1,000,000 portfolio with a $40,000 first-year withdrawal uses a 4% starting withdrawal. The tool raises withdrawals by inflation each year and applies the assumed return.
Methodology
Each year, the portfolio grows by the return assumption, then the withdrawal is removed and increased for inflation the next year. It excludes sequence-of-return volatility, taxes, RMDs and advisory fees.

Frequently asked questions
What is portfolio longevity?
It is the number of modeled years before the portfolio reaches zero, or whether it lasts through the planning period.
Is 4% always safe?
No. The 4% scenario is only a common planning reference, not a guarantee.
Does this include taxes?
No. Withdrawals are modeled before tax.
