IRA overview
Roth and Traditional IRAs can use the same contribution dollars but differ in tax treatment. Roth contributions are after-tax, while Traditional IRA contributions may be deductible depending on income and coverage rules.
Worked example
A 35-year-old contributing the 2026 IRA limit of $7,500 for 30 years sees the same pre-tax growth path, then the calculator compares Roth modeled value with a simplified after-tax Traditional IRA estimate.
Methodology
The calculator applies the 2026 IRA contribution limit and catch-up amount if age 50 or older. It compounds monthly and uses entered current and retirement tax rates for a simplified tax-treatment comparison. It does not test income eligibility or deduction phase-outs.
